Population is definitely low, however a single character can learn all professions in the game (blacksmithing, alchemy, skinning, etc.) instead of having a cap. Dalaran wow has outdated inferior scripts and low pop, while Cromiecraft is still in its lvling phase (they release 10 by 10 lvls every few months or so) with sub 1k pop at best and by now is considered a meme in the community. Other servers like old sunwells and whitemanes realms are empty. WrA is great for both factions. Wyrmrest Accord has a good Horde population, Alliance is so so.Tons of guilds and players migrated off realm after those changes, many went to WrA for RP. It's a pvp server but it's 99% Alliance.RP servers are best, however recently there has been a bigger market for the rare mount farms (people wait for mount to spawn and then sell access to the shard its on for hundreds of thousands of gold), so you might end up getting competition wherever you go. I say this with experience because I have a few toons on said server for this very ...Really good at PvP more than decent in PvE. lots of players online. The realm status is a steady "high". But do not go horde on Ravencrest, completely dead. Personally I would also recommend Ravencrest, if you're looking for an alliance-side server. Horde wise - Tarren Mill.Having everyone on a realm be your faction means ALOT more players. Whereas the 50/50 split could make a big realm feel like a low pop one. I'm not sure of the status of the big pvp realms but I'm pretty sure the top ones like sargeras, Illidan and tichondrius are all weighted one way or the other as well.(again pvpers can chime in here)Firemaw will likely have login queues at the release of the expansion and every major content release too. Dalaran-Wow has been my default server for the past 6-7 years, and it is great too, just low pop now. Server only affects the guilds you can join and the Auction house. So choose the highest population one with the faction balance towards what you want to play.
